Gun Oil H2O lubricant

December 21st, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

I first heard of Gun Oil lubricant when I noticed the Fleshlights were coming with small samples of this lube in their FL cases. Gun Oil, it’s a pretty tough name, huh? Reminds me of some super frisky secret agent getting down to business! Gun Oil created a great water-based lubricant called Gun Oil H2O. The lubricant, like it’s silicone brother, is a great quality lube but it’s completely silicone free. It offers a really smooth and silky texture, and though I think it’s targeted (ha! targeted, when talking about gun oil…had to throw that in there!) toward men. The bottle is blue, and has a camo designed type of font that says Gun Oil in all caps. It also mentions that the lube is condom safe, making it big enough for men’s eyes to actually see and say “Oh I can use this for jerking off OR sex!” ;) The texture of the lube is smooth and it is unscented and unflavored. I haven’t tried the original Gun Oil which is silicone based, but I think the H2O water based kind feels really nice. It has a silicone feel to it, without the staining effect, and because it’s water-based this lubricant is toy friendly too! If I were going to buy lubricant for a male partner I would probably buy him this. I thought the formula was pretty long lasting, and I liked the texture. The flip off cap did seem to leak a little bit, but since I store my lube upright I didn’t have a problem with it. A little goes a long way with this stuff, and I liked how it worked with my silicone and steel sex toys. I didn’t actually have sex while using this lube, I only used it for masturbatory uses, so I can’t give you a full breakdown of how it held up during the deed, but I would imagine, from it’s solo performance on me, that it would be pretty good for both partners during any sort of sexual activity including intercourse. I got a little bit of the lubricant on my clothes and it didn’t stain at all, and it wiped clean off of my play surface very easily.  A small drop of this stuff lasted me an entire masturbation session. Definitely glad I decided to try this! Ammo up and grab a bottle of Gun Oil H2O lube for you or your partner at FunWares.com for only $15.95 for an 8 oz bottle.

System JO Women’s Agape Lubricant review

December 14th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

Once and while, I try a lubricant and it’s love and first rub. This is one of those moments. Meet one of my favorite new lubricants, System JO Women’s Agape. I’m a huge fan of the System JO brand, and I love their lubricants. The only real problem is that their lubes have glycerine, which isn’t exactly bad, but it’s not the best for the vagina. So when I found out that the Agape version of System Jo Women’s lube was glycerine free, I jumped on it! It’s also free of silicone and oil, which means it’s great for sex and masturbation and is latex-friendly. It’s a water-based lubricant that seriously feels like silicone. That is one reason why System Jo has consistently been my favorite lubricant brand. I love that they offer a lube for women that is free of harmful ingredients, and that is both non toxic doesn’t block pores and its great for sensitive skin! It feels good to know that a company is creating lubricants specifically for women and women’s concerns. I also love the packaging. The bottle looks somewhat like a spray lubricant, but it’s not. It’s a pump spout, and it features a clear bottle so you can see how much lubricant is left in the bottle as you use it. Honestly, with all System Jo lubes, a little goes a long way, so one pump was perfect for me to masturbate. This lube stays wet, doesn’t get dry or sticky, it’s non-staining, and is odor and flavorless. I love using this lubricant on all sex toy materials, especially silicone and metal toys. It works great on glass toys, as well as body-safe plastic. It’s easy to clean up and doesn’t leave my fingers or my thighs sticky. Most of all, I love the consistency and feeling of this lube! It’s a thicker lube, but it’s also very natural and feels similar to my own natural lubrication, thats why I love it. It’s not watery or messy to use, it stays put but it has a very natural fluid motion too. It’s awesome! The great thing about this lube is that it has all the benefits and great things that the original System Jo Women’s lube has, just with a slightly different formula. I’m hooked!

LELO Personal Moisturizer Lubricant

December 4th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

Scarlets’ Letter Holiday Guide 2010 – Pick #2 – LELO Personal Moisturizer
Lube that is luscious…

I was thrilled to hear that LELO, one of my fav toy brands, was releasing their own brand of lubricant. I’m a lube fiend. I’m super picky about the kind of lubricant that I use, and I know what I want and do not want in my lube ingredients, texture, and staying-power. So I was really excited when I got my hands on the new lube by LELO, it’s called LELO Personal Moisturizer, which I assume is the luxury way of saying lube ;) The lube comes in a pretty black LELO box with a silver seal on it. Once you open the box, you can reach in and take out the lubricant. The lubricant comes in a beautiful opaque black glass bottle with the LELO logo on the front, and a pump spout top. The cap is sort of interesting. It doesn’t cover the pump part of the lubricant fully, instead it encircles the pump with a sheer black plastic circle that you lift off of the lubricant. Up lifting it off, you can press down on the pump and it releases lubricant in small squirts, so you can use a little or a lot, it’s up to you. I really like the design of the bottle! It’s sexy and luxurious looking, the circular cap is neat, and though it doesn’t cover the entire pump, it does block the top of the pump so that the pump cannot be pressed. So you could probably carry this lubricant in your overnight bag or suitcase without having to worry about it spilling or about things jumbling around in your luggage and accidentally pressing the pump. The cap is definitely a unique feature.

The lubricant is glycerine and paraben free, which I really like. I love finding quality lubes that are sans parabens and glycerin and instead feature ingredients like aloe vera, which this lubricant does contain. It makes for a nice lubricant additive, as it offers a nice texture and its’ soothing and moisturizing also. You also get a lot of lube in this bottle, it offers 150ml, which should last you quite awhile. The bottle is also very discreet. if placed on your nightstand or dresser, it would look more like a bottle of perfume than anything else. I also like the basic black design of the bottle, the it’s minimal and classy. This lubricant will work wonderfully with any LELO toys, but it also plays well with others. This lube can be used with any other sex toy you’d like, as it contains no oil or silicone, it’s a water-based lube that can be used for sex or sex toy play. It’s also ideal for both men and women because of the unisex bottle and the quality of the ingredients and texture of the product.

I really like the texture of this lubricant. It has a very natural quality to it, and feels similar to natural vaginal lubrication. It’s not too thin or watery, but not too thick or gel like. It’s a happy combination of the toy, and it’s very smooth and silky. It feels good on the skin, and didn’t leave me feeling sticky or tacky. It played well with my toys, and worked just as nicely on plastic and glass as it did on silicone. The lubricant is unscented and unflavored. I found that the lube had good staying power and it didn’t dry out too quickly like some lubricants tend to do. I’m really pleased with this product. It’s exactly the quality I would expect from Lelo, and this has become my lubricant or choice lately. Well done LELO, can’t see what other lubricants you may come out with.

You can get a 150ml bottle of LELO Personal Moisturizer lubricant for $21.25 at KamaSutraCloset.com!

System JO H2O lubricant

November 28th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

I love that System JO’s H2O lubricant says “meet your new best friend” because it’s true! This is my absolutely favorite lubricant. Well, it’s tied with System JO for Women. I’m a big fan of the System JO brand, and it was no surprise that this lube *has* become my new best friends. We have sleepover,s gossip about boys, and pain eachothers nails. Well, we totally would if this lube wasn’t just that..a lube. However, for me, it’s my ideal lube. First off, this lubricant is 100% waterbased, but to me, it feels like silicone lubricant. It’s seriously that good. I haven’t used a waterbased lubricant that was this silky before. I love the texture, it’s thick enough to last long and keep me wet, but it’s also smooth and silky and feels similar to my own natural wetness, making it a really nice water-based product that feels fantastic no matter where I use it. I’ve used this lube for anal play, vaginal/clitoral play, and even as lubricant on my nipples when using a nipple suckers toy. This lube is non-staining, and it doesn’t dry out super quick. Literally, a dime size amount of this lube goes a long way. It’s also odorless and tasteless. This lube is latex condom safe, and can be used with all sorts of sex toys. I love using this lube with my steel toys and my silicone vibes. It feels amazing as it glides onto my body as a toy slips and slides across my clit or vaginal opening. Yummy! My *only* complaint is that this lube is not glycerine free. I know I know, you’re saying, then whyyyy would you proclaim that this lubricant is your favorite Amber?? I can’t help it, it just is. Glycerine and all. If I can find a glycerine-free lube that feels as good as System JO H2O, then I will let you know. I’m a picky lube user, and for me, this one has all the pizazz that I’m looking for.

Interested in wetting your whistle with System JO H2O lube? You can get your hands on a slim little 1 oz bottle for $4.25 at FunLove.com. The size is perfect for on the go! A little goes a long way, and the texture is fantastic. Highly recommended!

Sliquid Pink Lemonade Flavored Lubricant

November 19th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

I’m usually not a huge fan of flavored lubes, mostly because if I’m eating/licking something, it means I enjoy the taste of it. So oral sex for me, is about enjoying the natural flavor of my partner, however, since I like to review products and try fun new items, I really wanted to check out Sliquid’s new flavored lube. Sliquid Pink Lemonade Flavored Lubricant, sounds yummy right? Well, it is! I was already a fan of the Sliquid brand, but hadn’t really ever tried their flavored lubes before, and since I like Pink Lemonade as a flavor, it’s really no surprise that I really liked this lubricant. The taste is subtle enough not to overpower my tastebuds, it doesn’t taste artificial or have an icky chemical aftertaste like some flavored lubes do. The bottle is easy to use, with a wide bottle and easy to pour spot, makes it easy to use a little or a lot. You can drizzle the lube on your partner straight from the bottle, or smooth the lubricant on with your fingers. The texture is pretty thick, even thicker than regular Sliquid lube, and it has a lot of staying power. It didn’t dry out fast, and when licked or when adding extra moisture with spit, it stayed wet really nicely and made the thick lube really smooth and easy to spread, drip, drizzle, and slurp. This lube is vegan friendly, doesn’t contain any glycerine *and* paraben free, and it also has no added sugars. It’s sweetened with Aspartame, and flavored using natural ingredients. The lube is also hypoallergenic, and safe for latex condom use. Since Sliquid Pink Lemonade Lube is water-based, it is non-staining, and it is safe for use with sex toys. I feel really confident with the ingredients in this lube. It’s hard to find quality lubricants that are glycerine and paraben free, so for me, this is a huge plus and a big reason why I like Sliquid lube. As I previously stated, this lube is quite thick, so keep that in mind if you’re a fan of thin or runny lubricants. Like with most lubes, less is more with flavored lubes. You definitely don’t want to end up with an entire mouthful of this stuff, its good for licking and adding some extra flavored pizazz to oral sex, but not something I want to suck down like a real glass of pink lemonade ;) Two thumbs up for Sliquid Pink Lemonade!

Wanna tempt your taste buds with this new lube? Check it out at Pleasure Galaxie, where you can buy a 4.2 oz bottle for $12 (this bottle should last you a loooong time, even if you’re a flavored lube connoisseur).

P.S. A little birdie told me that if you use the discount code LETTER10 at checkout on any regular(non-sale) purchase at PleasureGalaxie.com you’ll get 10% off of your order!

Pjur Eros Aqua Lubricant

May 25th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

I’d always been curious to try lubricant from the German brand Pjur. I was browsing their selection of lubes, and though their original silicone formula sounded fabulous, I’m definitely a girl who loves water-based lubricant. For it’s performance, how it plays well with toys, and for easy clean up. So when I saw Pjur Eros Aqua Lubricant in the gender neutral Blue/Black bottle, I knew I had to try it! The lube is 100% water based, is safe for condom use, is FDA approved, and is dermatologist tested. The only downside is that it has glycerin in it, and I usually try to stay away from glycerin based lubes. Unfortunately a lot of lubes on the market use that ingredient, so I wasn’t too shocked to see it listed in the ingredients. The bottle is a nice size, and I like the design and label of it, it’s a lubricant that men or women can confidently use. I like the formula of this stuff! The feel of the lube is sleek and smooth, similar to a silicone lube, but without the actual silicone as an ingredient. I found that a little went a long way, and the scent was rather plain and not too noticeable. I first used this lubricant on my fingers, and found that it mixed nicely with my own natural wetness as I touched my pussy. Next up I tried it on a silicone clit vibrator and found that it was a nice pair with this lube! I then used a glass dildo and used it with this lube. This was the test for me, if this lube stood up well during insertion and fucking of a toy, I knew it would be a keeper. Yay, it did! This stuff lasted long and didn’t seem to dry out my vag. I’m a bit of a lube snob, so I’m always glad when i find a lube that works well in many different situations. I would think that this lube would be perfect for men also for use with a masturbation sleeve or a hand. Get your own 3.4 oz bottle of Pjur Eros Aqua Lubricant for $16.95 at TabuToys.com!

Aloe Cadabra organic lubricant

April 28th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

I really like products that contain aloe. I often use raw aloe, and aloe vera gel for many things. So when I heard about a new organic lubricant called Aloe Cadabra, I knew I wanted to try it. The product design is basic and to the point, no flashy graphic, just a squeeze bottle container with a pretty product sticker that that product is made form 95% organic aloe. I like the understated packaging, and I like the idea of using aloe on my girlybits, since it works so well for other parts of the body. The 2.5 oz bottle of lubricant is pretty full of product, and the formula is very smooth. I can feel the aloe in it, it’s nourishing and very smooth to the touch. This all-natural lube contains no petroleum, glycerin, parabens, or other icky ingredients. Instead, Aloe Cabadra is made from Aloe vera gel, xantham gum, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, and vanilla essential oil. The lubricant is condom friendly, and works on silicone, and any other sex toys. If you have sensitive skin and tend to react to other lubes, this one may be worth a try. It’s rare for me to find lubes that truly contain no parabens, or glycerin. This lubricant’s ingredients are pretty pure for the most part. Aloe has anti-inflammatory properties, which means that this lube does also, so it’s also ideal for any women out thee that may experience vaginal dryness. I found that this lubricant is pretty long lasting, it has a light fragrance that is pleasant to smell, it’s tasteless, and it’s made with food grade ingredients, so it’s okay to get it in your mouth, if you plan on using this lubricant for oral sex. The formula is meant to mimic the body’s natural lubrication and be long lasting. I found that the formula is pretty great. I actually tried putting aloe vera gel on my clit before, after a seriously hardcore weekend with the Hitachi Magic Wand, and I found that straight aloe vera gel on the clit isn’t such a good thing, it leaves a white film on the pussy and it made me clit extra sensitive (and not in the good way). So I’m sort of thrilled that the good people that created Aloe Cadabra figured out the proper way to use aloe as a lubricant ingredient. This lube is a keeper! Get your own bottle of Aloe Cadabra lubricant at Tabu Toys for $10. This lube is highly affordable, considering comparable lubes are often more expensive and are full of chemicals you don’t really want to use on your genitals. Way to go, Aloe Cadabra (cute name by the way), this lube rocks!

System Jo Women’s H2o Lubricant

January 16th, 2010 @ Amber St. Clare

I love the feeling one gets from getting off while using the right lube. By “right lube”, I mean a lube that stands up to the quality that you expect it to, and it meets your needs. I am a big fan of System Jo lubricants, they are among my favorite lubricant brands. Their personal lubricants are quality, long lasting, thick, and a little goes a long way. I was really interested in trying the System Jo Women’s H2o lubricant, so when sextoy.com sent me this little bottle of liquid happiness, it inspired me to get down to business ;) I like the System Jo bottle, it’s pop cap is easy to use, and the bottle is small enough to fit in my toy storage box, but big enough so that this lube last me a long time. Like the original System Jo H2o lube, this lubricant feels deliciously similar to silicone lubricant, but it’s not! It’s completely water-based. Which means you can use this lubricant for masturbation, sex toy use, sex, or any other way you’d like to use lube. It’s condom compatible and it’s sily smooth to the touch. Not watery at all, System Jo Women’s H2o lube isn’t sticky, but rather it glides softly and smoothly along your naughty bits and feels wonderful while doing so. I am not a fan of watery lubes. I prefer lubricants that are a little thicker, because I like lubricants that are closer to real vaginal lubrication. This lubricant is formulated for women, but obviously, males and couples can use this lubricant also. This lube is free of silicone, oil and wax. Yay. While that makes me happy, I am a little disappointed that this lube contains glycerin and parabens! I adore System Jo’s lubricant, but this day in age, with so many lubricant brands choosing body safe ingredients, it does make me wish that System Jo’s Women H2o lubricant contains these ingredients. With a product being specifically marketed to women, I think it should be very vagina friendly, meaning that it only contains materials that are body safe and healthy for the vagina, where as glycerin and parabens aren’t quite as healthy.

This lube is nearly perfect! It’s odorless, it’s long lasting, non-greasy, and a little goes a long way, so a bottle of this lube lasts a long time. Even if you’re a serious masturbatory queen such as myself. The smoothness and texture of this lube helps to make my self-over sessions very enjoyable, and it works well with all of my sex toys, which is a plus. My one and only concern is the glycerin and parabens on the ingredients label. So while I highly suggest System Jo and their range of lubricants, I would love if they re-released the System Jo Women’s H20 lube sans the two worrisome materials. A bottle of this lube will only set you back about $12.78, which is an awesome price for the size and quality of the lube. Performance wise? Two awesome thumbs up. With a little tweak of the ingredients this lube would be my absolute fav!

Intimate Organics – Lubricant and Clitoral Gel

October 28th, 2009 @ Amber St. Clare

I love a good lubricant. it can make all the difference in a good self-love session. I also like to be able to pronounce the ingredients of products that I put in my body, so anything that is organic or natural is always a plus in my book. i recently heard about Intimate Organics Hydra Lubricant, and it sounded awesome. It’s a water based lube that is vegan, and free of glycerine and other harmful chemicals. I hadn’t tried anything from Intimate Organics before, so i admit I was pretty excited to give this lube a go :) I like the packaging a lot. The lable is tasteful and pretty, and the bottle is slim and petite, which means it can fit in your purse of luggage very easily. I recently tried the lubricant during masturbation session and I enjoyed it a lot. The fact that it is free of parabens and is organic definitely made me happy, and the texture was smooth and light.  This lubricant is thin and feels natural, but it’s not to thin that it feels too watery. It’s water-based so I was free to use this on silicone toys, and I found that it worked well for silicone dildos and vibrators. I found that this formula last nicely, when it felt as if it was drying a little, I added a little saliva to it and it smoothed things out and got it nice and wet again. There is no added scent to this lube, it’s fragrance free, however it does have a mild scent that is natural – it comes from aloe and the other organic ingredients in this lube. The scent didn’t bother me at all. Nor did the taste, which tasted a little like it smelled – natural and “green”.  This lube didn’t stain my sheets, and it’s perfectly safe to use with all types of condoms and I didn’t find the texture to be sticky or tacky at all. It was smooth sailin’  down below ;) You can get your hands on a 4 oz bottle of Intimate Organics Hydra for $15.99 at PinkCherry.com

Since I enjoyed using the Intimate Organics lubricant, I really wanted to try some of their other products, so I was curious as to what the Intimate Organics Gentle Clitoral Stimulating Gel was like. This stimulating gel can be squeezed onto your finger and then applied to the clitoris manually before a session of self-love or a session of love making. I chose this gel because it was mild, yet would offer a nice effect as it makes the clitoris even more sensitive. This is a fun product to use to add extra “oomph” to your clitoral stimulation. Like the lubricant above, this gel is also organic and make of body safe ingredients. This product contains no parabens or animal products, so this is a vegan friendly item. You can feel confident in knowing that you’re using a product that isn’t full of harmful ingredients. I thought the gel was nice. It’s not super powerful, but it does help to get the blood flowing inside of the clitoris and will help to get your clit nice and engorged and ready for play. This gel made my clit extra sensitive, and it was a pleasure to use. I didn’t find the scent to be overpowering or too noticeable. This product does contain peppermint oil and I could definitely notice it, but it was pleasant and not at all bothersome. The gel was long-lasting and did a nice job of adding extra excitement to my masturbation session. This gel also comes in a stronger formula for those who really want to amp up the clit stim! You can find the gentle formula of the Intimate Organics Stimulating Gel at Pink Cherry Sex Toys for $21.99
