ID Pleasure Lubricant

January 27th, 2012 @ Amber St. Clare

ID Pleasure Lubricant is a waterbased that contains Ginkgo Biloba Red Clover, which are natural ingredients that are known to help promote circulation and can cause a natural warm effect. This lube is latex friendly and can be used with condoms, it’s also great with sex toys including silicone, glass, and steel toys. This lube is meant to offer added stimulation and even says “enhanced sensation” right on the logo. This lubricant is non-staining, so it’s okay if it gets on your sheets or bedding. I like the texture of this lube, it’s a liquid lubricant but it isn’t too watery. it glides nicely and has a non-greasy texture. While it’s not a silicone lube, if it starts to dry out during use like most waterbased lubricants, you can add a little saliva or water to re-activate. It’s unscented and unflavored, and it feels very nice on the skin. I used this lubricant for manual stimulation, as well as tried it with a silicone vibrator and it worked very nicely. I didn’t notice an overpowering heat or anything from the red ginger, but it did offer a slightly warm effect, without being tingly or cooling. Nice texture for an affordable lube, and and the flip top lid helps the bottle from spilling, so you can even pop this bottle into your overnight bag! You can get a 5.5 oz bottle of ID Pleasure Lube for $12.95 at FunWares.com!

Gun Oil Stroke 29 Masturbation Cream

October 19th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

I recently took an interest in checking out some masturbation creams, which for the most part, are thicker in texture, creamy, and oil based, compared to fluid water-based formulas. Gun Oil creates a variety of great lubes for men, though women can easily use their great products also. Gun Oil Stroke 29 Masturbation Cream comes in an easy fliptop 3.3 oz bottle, featuring the fliptop on the bottom, allowing the bottle to rest on it’s lid, making sure you can get to all of the product in the tube. It has a black, white, blue and red Stroke 29 logo on the front. For the most part it’s a discreet tube, minus the cheeky name. I love the tagline for the lube, which says, “Can you make it to the 29th stroke?”. This masturbation cream offers a oil-based formula that is is thick and creamy, because of the rich oils and additives, and as the cream warms in your hand and against your genitals, the oils in it begin to melt to create a very slick and luscious lube.

Ingredients: Water, Octyl Palmitate, Prunus Amygdalus (sweet almond) Oil, Emulsifying Wax, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Cetyl Alcohol, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Methyl Paraben, Propyl Paraben, Carbomer, Diazolidinyl Urea, Triethanolamine.

This cream has Vitamin E and aloe for a softening affect, and Almond oil for a nice slick feeling. It does contain parabens, glycerin, alcohol and wax, which aren’t exactly vagina friendly, however, remember this is marketed as a male masturbation cream.  Since I don’t have a penis, I offered up this lube of lubricant to a male friend who was only too eager to try it out (What! Free lube? Score!). My friend mostly uses water-based lube that he picks up from the local pharmacy, so he hadn’t tried an oil-based lubricant before, and I dare say he didn’t even know the difference. He told me that the Stroke 29 Masturbation Cream was awesome, greasy but not sticky or bothersome. He said that a dime sized amount is really all you need, and that the cream’s texture was cold as first when he put it in his hand, but it warmed on contact with his palm and once he got a good handle on his piece, things went very smoothly (no pun intended). I asked him to tell me if he made it to the 29th stroke, and of course he forgot to count, duh. He only mentioned that he liked the formula a lot and that his dick didn’t feel chaffed or raw like it can after jerking off with his previous lube (or even his own saliva) and that he was impressed with how slick and longlasting the lube was, and that he didn’t need to add any water or any more lube to keep things gliding along. While I wouldn’t think this would be a super ideal lube for women, or for partner sex, it seems to be a great cream for male masturbation. You can grab a bottle of Stroke 29 Masturbation Cream at FunWares.com $12.95

YES Lubricant

September 12th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

What’s silky, smooth, and comes in both a water-based and oil-based lubricant? Yes Lubricant. Yes offers a beautiful texture that feels natural and similar to vaginal lubrication, it’s moisturizing, body-safe and it’s even safe for couples trying to conceive. I got to try both the Yes water-based lubricant and the Yes oil-based lubricant, and thought that each of them had a wealth of great possibilities and even turned out quite lovely when paired together during masturbation or intimate moments. Yes is a UK-based brand that specializes in lubricants that are gentle but versatile. Their water-based formula helps to replenish the natural moisture of the vagina, and the slick sleek formula glides wonderful during use, and is compatible with latex condoms and sex toys. It’s not sticky or tacky, and it washes away easily in the shower without leaving any film or residue.

Yes Water-based Lubricant Ingredients: Aqua (water), Aloe barbadensis (Aloe vera)*, Cyamopsis tetragonolobus (Guar Gum)*, Ceratonia siliqua (Locust Bean Gum)*, Linum usitatissimum (Flax extract)*, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium sorbate, Xanthan Gum, Citric acid.  (* organically grown)

As you can see, the formula uses natural ingredients rather than man-made chemicals or fillers. The formula is both paraben, silicone, and glycerine free. I really liked this lubricant for masturbation, it made for great use when paired with some of my favorite sex toys. I used this lubricant with my LELO Liv vibrator, and it was awesome. I noticed that this lubricant didn’t dry out like other lubes can do when paired with a silicone texture. I also used this lubricant with my Lelo Insignia Alia and it was awesome, it helped the toy glide in all of the right places and it worked in tandem with the silicone toy to get me off and keep me nice and wet until i was ready for some internal stimulation. This lube paired with an internal toy like the Liv was a great pair, my vibrator stayed slick and the lubricant didn’t dry out on the toy while I was using it. I only used a nickle sized amount and I didn’t have to re-apply, which was awesome! I’m used to having to add more lube, or some saliva to keep things moving along nicely, but I didn’t have to re-apply with the Yes waterbased lube.

I’m definitely not someone who uses oil based lubricants often. Why? I just didn’t feel as if there were enough of them on the market to really choose which was best for me. So when I tried Yes oil-based lubricant, I decided to try it on a steel sex toy, and I ended up using this with the Njoy Pure Wand. I loved the sleek feel of the oil based product, it definitely kept me completely lubed up for my entire session. It’s not condom compatible since it contains oil (oil breaks down latex) but it’s nice for solo use, or for you and a committed partner who don’t use condoms together.

Yes Oil-based Lubricant Ingredients: Prunus dulcis (Sweet almond) oil*, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea butter)*, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil*, Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter*, Cera alba (Bees wax)*, Natural Tocopherols (Vitamin E). (* organically grown)

The oil-based lubricant features moisturizing oils like sweet almond oil, and vitamin e. This lube also works well as a massage oil! I tried it on my breasts, and my upper body, and legs, and it was delightful. The oils are softening to the skin and protective to the skin tissue. When used with a glass or steel or aluminum toy, this lube holds up wonderfully and the lubricating effect is long-lasting. A little dime sized amount was all I needed for a complete masturbatory session. This oil-based lubricant is also nice for sex in the shower, as the oil-based lube won’t wash away as easily as a water-based lubricant. It contains no funky additives or chemicals or detergents that can harm your body, simple oils and softening ingredients. This lube does take a little longer to clean up than a traditional water-based lubricant, as it doesn’t wash off as easily, but it definitely offered fabulous staying power which is beneficial when looking for a quality lubricant.

I even paired both lubricants together, applying the oil lubricant first, with a small amount of oil based on top and it was awesome. The two melded just nicely and that with my natural lubrication made me super slippery and ready for action! I highly recommend this lubricant, not only for it’s awesome formula and feel, but because of the organic ingredients. Yes also won the Best Organic Bodycare Award at the 2011 Natural and Organic Awards. For more info, or to order, check out YesYesYes.org!

Intimate Organics Defense Lubricant

September 10th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

Protection Lubricant. I feel like my vagina is a secret agent, on a mission to defend and conquer. Hence, Intimate Organics Defense Lubricant. This lubricant is specially designed for a woman’s body. It’s made of a smooth and soft paraben-free, silicone-free, and glycerine-free waterbased formula with natural anti-bacterial capabilities as well as natural sea kelp and guava bark. It’s meant for women who may be sensitive to other lubricants, without worry of a skin reaction. It’s also ideal for women who like the idea of a lubricant that doesn’t disrupt the vagina’s natural good bacteria but instead helps to protect against bacteria that can cause infection or ph imbalance. The formula is certified organic and contains moisturizing ingredients that help to soften and protect the delicate vaginal skin. This lubricant is slick and natural feeling, without being too thick and tacky or too thin and runny. It’s also green. That might be a deal breaker for some, or a perk for others. It looks green in the bottle, but the formula is more of a translucent green that doesn’t actually look green once it’s on your vagina. So you can enjoy the perks of a premium lubricant without actually making your vag look like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Pussy.

Ingredients: Aqua, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Phenocyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Phenethyl Alcohol, PPG-2 Methyl Ether, Methylisothiazolinone, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Alcohol, Lycium Barbarum Fruit Extract, Cym bopogon Schoe-nanthus Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Sodium Hydroxide.

Carrageenan comes from red seaweed and offers protective properties while the fruit extract and aloe offer moisturizing qualities, the other ingredients also work as a antibacterial agent to help fight bad bacteria from messing with your natural pH level. It does have alcohol in it, which can be drying, but I didn’t notice that being a problem with this lube. I like the feel of this lubricant, the texture is smooth and moisturizing. It didn’t leave a film on my skin, and it was easy to clean up after use. It also worked with with my glass, steel, and non-porous toys. I also used this on a few ABS plastic toys, and it was great. The lubricant washed off of my toys without leaving any scent or coating behind, and it easily wiped away from my vulva after use. It strangely made my pussy feel refreshed during and after use. This lube is latex condom compatible, and it also can be licked, so it’s fine during oral sex. I also like that the ingredients are organic, and that this lubricant was made with a woman’s vagina in mind, making it a suitable choice for solo or partner play.

You can get a 4.5 oz bottle of Intimate Organics Defense Lubricant for $16.50 at Tabu Toys!

Good Clean Love Lavender Rose Personal Lubricant

September 8th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

Good Clean Love recently gave their product packaging and products a makeover with a nice sleek green/white theme and new scents! I tried the Good Clean Love Lavender Rose Lubricant just recently and really liked the formula. Their lubricant is 100% vegan and free of animal products, it contains no parabens, no glycerine, silicone, or other icky chemicals. It’s so refreshing to find a lubricant that offers pure ingredients that are body-safe and eco-friendly. Their ingredient list consists of 7 items, thats it. The formula is also condom safe, the formula isn’t tested on animals, non-sticky, and it’s latex safe. It’s made with organic ingredients so you can feel safe about what you’re putting on/in your body. I feel so confident when using this lubricant because I know exactly what ingredients are in the formula, rather than long ingredients names that sound like I’m in chemistry class.

Ingredients: Deionized Water, Agar, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Benzoic Acid, Natural Extratives and Flavors, Potassium Sorbate, Xanthan Gum

Simple. Body-safe, and awesome. It contains aloe for a moisturizing effect, pure water, natural flavors and scents, and Potassium Sorabte which is a natural food preservative, and Xanthan Gum which is basically a natural sweetener that s derived from corn. From the looks of it, this product seems to contain no wheat or gluten so I think it’s also gluten-free! This lube comes in a 4 oz squeeze tube, it dispenses nicely and doesn’t leak, the cap is on the bottle as well so you don’t have to worry about trying to get extra product out of the end of the bottle. The formula is non-sticky, and doesn’t feel tacky on the skin. It’s safe for pregnant women to use, and it works as a great natural lubricant that can help with vaginal dryness. This particular variety of lube is scented with lavender and rose, so it’s slightly floral and soft and relaxing to smell. The formula also contains seaweed which is good for the skin, and all of the ingredients are edible, so this lube can be licked as well and used during oral sex.

This makes for an awesome masturbation lube, and it’s compatible with all sex toy materials including glass, steel, silicone, and plastic. I like the thick feeling of the formula, it’s not not too runny, it stays put and glides nicely. It feels like more of a gel than a liquid, and it feels nice on the genitals. You only need a drop or two to properly lubricant, and if it begins to dry out after awhile, you can add a little saliva or water to your genitals to help reactivate it’s wet properties. Since it’s made of natural ingredients, it doesn’t contain silicone or other slick additives it cna dry out after awhile, but if you don’t mind adding water or adding a few more drops to help activate it, it’s worth it just because of how natural it is alone.

Wanna try this lube out for yourself? Good Clean Love Lavender Rose Lubricant is $13.50 for a 4 oz bottle at KamaSutraCloset.com!

System JO H2O Women’s Lubricant in Pump Bottle

August 12th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

System JO is one of my top 2 favorite lube brands. I am already a big fan of their H2o lube and different Women’s formulas, but when I saw that System JO H2o Women’s lube came in a pump bottle, I knew I had to get my hands on it. I love the low-mess factor when using pump top bottles of lube. It’s easy to use just a little bit during masturbation, or add a few more pumps for sex or anal play. It’s versatile and the bottle is easily stored in an overnight bag or my bedside table. This lube comes in two sizes, a 4.5 oz bottle and a 2.5 oz bottle. This lube goes a long way, like with other System Jo lubes, so one bottle should last you awhile. The formula is sleek and smooth and silky soft, it’s one of my favorite lubricant textures ever! It *feels* like a silicone lube, but theres no silicone in it. It’s long lasting, doesn’t dry out as quick as some other lubes on the market, and it’s oil and wax free, and it is latex condom safe. This lube has the same ingredients as their regular H2O lubricant, but it’s in different ingredients ratios to make the formula feel extra ideal for women with a natural feeling.

Ingredients: Propyl paraben, Methyl paraben, Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulous, Glycerin, Purified Water

So how can a lube that feels *s0* right, still be kinda wrong? Formula = perfect. Ingredients = Eh. I’d love a paraben-free System JO H2o lube! Also, for a lube for women it would be great if it contained no glycerin, since it can sometimes cause yeast infections. If you’re not effected by glycerin, and have used it without any vaginal irritation, and if you don’t mind added parabens, you’ll adore this lube for masturbation or sex. If those things are too off-putting for you, then definitely pass. It comes down to knowing what you like and want in a personal lubricant. System Jo makes a another variety of womens lube called System JO Womens Agape Lube which is glycerin-free, so thats an alternative to this lube if the glycerin is a concern. So as much as I love this lube, it would be great to be able to tell my readers that a lube this good is made of natural and completely body-friendly ingredients. I still adore this lube, and it works very well for me, but I do hope to see a paraben/glycerin-free Womens lube from them in the future!

Sliquid Sizzle Warming Lubricant Review

August 12th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

Is it hot in here, or is it just me? Check out Sliquid Sizzle Warming Lubricant from Sliquid, makers of awesome lubes. This body-safe lube offers a warming effect, so it’s great for both masturbation and sex. It’s a water-based formula that is smooth, has a nice consistency not too thin and not real thick, it’s 100% vegan, it’s hypoallergenic, is condom-safe, and it is paraben and glycerine free. Nice! It feels just as nice in texture as other Sliquid lubes I’ve tried in the past, but in this warming formula, as you apply the lube to your nether regions it cools on contact, then as friction is applied it warms up. Thanks to the menthol in this product, it warms naturally and in a body-friendly way that is safe for your sex toys and you (and your partner!).

Ingredients: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose (from Cotton), Cyamopsis (Guar Conditioners), Food Grade Menthol, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

I used Sliquid Sizzle during a masturbation session with a silicone clit toy (by the way, this lube is water-based so it’s safe for all toy materials, including silicone!) for a little warm up session. The texture feels silky on the skin, and as with other Sliquid lubes, a little goes a long way, all I needed was a dime size amount, in which I added another dime size amount to during use to add to the warming sensation. The formula is slightly tingly and then as you manually stimulate yourself with your hand or your toy it warms up nicely. This lube is also great for couples sex and can add a pleasant warming effect to both partners as you engage in foreplay or sex. It’s made of food safe ingredients too, so it’s okay if the lubricant gets on your mouth or tongue, though it’s not flavored. This formula is non-staining, easy to clean up, and long lasting. I found that it works well with both vibrator and dildo use, and even manual sex. I also really like that the ingredients are so simple and natural. Big thumbs to Sliquid for creating this fun and sensual lube!

You can warm up to some Sliquid Sizzle Lubricant at Fun Wares for $12.95 for a 4.2 oz bottle.

Review: Liquid Silk Lubricant

August 10th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

Ahhh, nice. You know that feeling when the lube cosmos align just right and you stumble upon a fantastic lube? Yeah, that. I recently finally got to test out Liquid Silk Lubricant. The buzz around the sex toy world was that it was a fantastic lubricant, so I excitedly took the plunge and decided to give it a go. Liquid Silk: The Subtle Art of Making People Fit Together and Reducing Friction in Relationships. How can you not love a lube with a slogan like that? Liquid Silk is a body-safe, long lasting, silky smooth water-based lube that performs like a silicone lube. It’s sleek and works well not only when knocking boots, but also with masturbation and sex toy play. It’s creamy texture is a lot different than any other lubes that I’ve used, it’s a creamy white color and the texture is a very natural and slippery. It performs really great on steel, glass, aluminum and plastic toys. Heres the thing…it dos have a little bit of Dimethicone in it (that’s silicone) so while it’s mostly a water-based lube (not sure there is enough silicone to consider this a hybrid, which is why it’s toted as being water-based) it *could* interact badly with a silicone toy. I haven’t tried it on any silicone toys, just to be cautious, so if one were to want to use it with a silicone toy I would suggest a very small patch test to see how the lube interacts with the toy.

Ingredients: Water (Purified), Propylene Glycol, Isopropyl Palmitate, *Dimethicone, Cellulose Polymer, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate NSE, BNPD Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, BHT      (*Silicone)

This lube also has parabens in it, which is a bit disappointing considering I’ve used some great lubes that are paraben free, but ultimately it doesn’t take away from the greatness of this lube. It is long lasting, feels great against the skin, doesn’t dry out as fast as other lubes, and I like the creamy texture. It resembles ejaculate a little bit, so it could be put to use during strapon sex as well. It’s easy to clean up,isn’t sticky or tacky. I like the way this lube works for both manual masturbation and sex toy play. A little bit of Liquid Silk on a glass toy makes for a whole lot of fun. The trace small amount of silicone in this lubricant really makes this lube stand out as a great lube for both anal play, vaginal sex, or manual sex. A small amount of lube lasts awhile, so this bottle could last you a decent amount of time.

You can get a Liquid Silk 250ml pump bottle for $17.95 or a Liquid Silk 50ml flip top bottle for $9.95 at FunWares.com

Review: Uberlube Silicone Lubricant

June 23rd, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

I use a lot of silicone toys, so it’s not often that I use my silicone based lubricants. However I recently got a brand spanking new bottle of this great new lube called Uberlube, it’s been hailed as one of the new great silicone lubes on the market and is even recommended by the Berman Center as well as Dr Oz. This silicone lubricant comes in a really cute glass bottle with a pump cap. I like the clear bottle and simple packaging, it’s sleek and looks luxe. I also like that you can see how much product is left in the bottle as time goes on and you use it. The pump cap is easy to use, one simple pump and you get a good sized squirt of lube. Silicone lube has a tendency to last longer, have a silky smooth texture, and it goes a long way. So one small pump of Uberlube is all you’ll need during masturbation. This silicone lube is clear, satiny when rubbed between the fingers, and it feels light and very soft on the genitals. It’s great for manual sex, anal sex, and intercourse too. The formula feels very moisturizing when I apply it, and even after a long session of masturbation I find that it hasn’t dried out like some other lubes can tend to do. I love the natural feeling of this lube, it’s not watery but not gel like either, it ha a very pleasant texture, and it doesn’t have a prominent smell or taste either. I used this lubricant on one of my glass dildos, and on one of my aluminum dildos and I found that the lubricant was long lasting, made penetration feel really comfortable and smooth, and it was awesome for anal play! A drop of this one of my favorite glass butt plugs was awesome, it made insertion easy and made removal just as nice. I really like this lube! This is going to be my go-to silicone lubricant for steel and glass toys in the future. A bottle of this lubricant should last you a long time, and it even comes in a Uberlube 50ml size and a bigger Uberlube 100ml size. A bottle of 50ml will cost you $16 and it’s $28 for 100ml, with the feel of the formula and the staying power, this lube is totally worth the price!

Sliquid Naturals Swirl Strawberry & Pomegranate Lube

March 14th, 2011 @ Amber St. Clare

Pomegranate has always been one of my favorite fruits. Lately it’s become a real power fruit and you can find pomegranate as a flavor or additive in nearly any food or fragrance, but I thought it was really cool to find a pomegranate flavored lubricant! I’m a fan of Sliquid lubricants anyway, and I have to agree with others who think their flavored lubes are one of the best on the market, so when Sliquid Naturals Swirl Strawberry Pomegranate was just released, I knew I had to try it. I don’t use flavored lubes very often, but I do like knowing that I have flavor options on hand if the occasion to want to incorporate some into oral sex comes into play. First off, the bottle is cute, brightly colored, and you get a lot of product in this 4.2 oz bottle. You get a lot of product in the bottle because with Sliquid lubes a little goes a long way. Also, since the ingredients are natural you don’t have to worry about ingesting or putting chemicals or icky add-ins on your genitals. The ingredients are pretty simple: Purified Spring Water, Plant Cellulose (derived from Cotton), Cyamposis (Guar Conditoiners), Aspartame (artificial sweetener) , Strawberry & Pomegranate flavoring, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid. Pretty simple for the most part. No parabens or glycerin! So I like that part. Aspartame isn’t my ideal artificial flavoring, I’ve love to see a flavored lubricant use something like Stevia or Sucralose in the future, as I find those to be healthier options. Nonetheless though, I like the ingredients in this lube and like the fact that the product does indeed contain naturals additives. The texture of the lube is pretty thick, not gel like, but a thin coating is really all you need to use this lubricant. No need to gob it on ;) When you add moisture to the lube such as water or spit, it makes the lubricant longer lasting and seems to activate it’s spreading properties even more. The bottle is easy to use and dispense product also, so dripping or leaking which is a big plus! I also like that the bottle is clear so I can see how much product is left in the bottle. You can use flavored lubes in a variety of ways, in the shower, in bed, on nipples, on genitals, any place you’d like really. Of course it’s most often reached for when performing oral sex. You really only need a pea sized amount to spread onto the penis or vulva area, as this lubricant spreads well and is thicker than a more watery lube. The flavor is nice, and doesn’t leave an icky aftertaste. It’s also vegan friendly and it’s gluten free. The strawberry doesn’t overpower the pomegranate, it’s a nice marrying of both flavors to create a slightly tart sweet flavor that is really yummy. It’s probably my flavored Sliquid flavored lubricant to date. The flavored doesn’t taste too artificial and I appreciate the fact that Sliquid utilized the pomegranate flavor. I think it makes a great addition to the strawberry to create a natural fruity flavor that is sweet with a slightly tart tang that tickles the taste buds. You can try this lube for yourself at Pleasure Galaxie for $12!
