Blog Transition

October 1st, 2017 @ Amber

Hi! So I’ve been thinking of transitioning my blog and turning it into something else for awhile now (almost a year now). I just don’t feel like the mundane feeling of the blog fits me. I will be focusing more on things that inspire me, including lingerie, but not limited to. I am also going to be a lot more open on my blog, without the rules one comes to know within the online blogging communities. I blogged back in 1997, back when we all coded our websites using HTML editors, and linked sister sites, and used banners and guestbooks. My blogging self was much more authentic then, and I feel like the last several years of first blogging about adult toys, and then blogging about lingerie, have not quite fit me completely. So while I’ll still be sharing lingerie on the blog expect a more varied content, and eventually a blog name change. Scarlet’s Letter hasĀ  outlived the usefulness as a name, and I’m ready to create the type of content that I actually enjoy, instead of writing things that feel lacking in hunger, passion and substance. In my personal life, which I’ve always shared very very little of here, my life is very rich in art and creation, and I had thought a blog would be another part of that, when really, I’m realizing it only hindered my work.

I still have a few more lingerie reviews to post, and I’ll be sure to share new brands and lingerie that catch my eye, but just a heads up if you find that my usernames change on social media etc, it’s simply that I’m going in a new direction, one that is more me.

Gabi Fresh x Playful Promises New Plus-Size Collection

September 20th, 2017 @ Amber

Playful Promises has been on top of their game for the past few years and they just keep getting better and better. Their new plus-sized collection is a collaboration with Gabi Fresh, blogger and body positive activist, is so damn sexy and fun. All of the pieces are modern and beautiful, and can be mixed and matched to create whatever vibe you’re going for. The collection just launched and includes three lingerie sets, along with a gorgeous sheer robe and pretty satin PJs. I love how this collection is unlike any other plus sized options out there right now, and it still stays true to the Playful Promises aesthetic while adding definitely Gabi inspired Fresh-ness. Available in sizes US 12-24, and bra cup sizes B-G and band sizes 36-44. Playful Promises is one of the only brands that has consistently listened to it’s customers and has expanded their sizes not only to include full bust sizes but also their plus-sized Curve range. PP is doing amazing things for the industry. Indie brands need the support of folks to keep making these sizes, so please support the brand by making a purchase at full price. Sneak Peek of Upcoming Sub-Brand from Tutti Rouge

September 13th, 2017 @ Amber

Photo: Tutti Rouge

Full bust brand Tutti Rouge recently released their new young and affordable line Rougette, but a video was just posted on the Tutti Rouge Instagram page showing a sneak peek of another upcoming sub-brand that looks sexier and more sultry than their other lines. They mention the brand being called Brand X, and I’m super excited to see what the designs will be and when this will be released! The photo is a little teaser and gives a good idea of what the line will be like, looks a bit sexier, like a grown up version of TR’s usual line. Similar to Curvy Kate’s sexier Scantilly line, I’m looking forward to see what Tutti Rouge does with the upcoming Brand X! What are your thoughts? Check the little video out on Tutti Rouge on Instagram!

Cornelia James Angelique Gloves

August 26th, 2017 @ Amber

The only gloves I wear are from Cornelia James, the classic glove maker from London, who also is the glove maker for the Royal family in the UK. The brand was created by Cornelia, when she had little more than her sewing skills with her in London and not much money, and she created a true business out of it, and her daughter Genevieve has carried the brand on during the years. Celebs and royalty and lovers of fine things alike, wear these luxury gloves. I have a few pairs and each is so well made, so beautiful and can be great for outerwear and even boudoir and evening wear. One of their newest styles the Angelique is a mesh net glove, with a oversized bow at the wrist, they are lovely! These could be worn with lingerie, for burlesque, or even in high fashion. They’re available in ivory, a blush pink and black. I should have gone with blush pink or black but I got ivory instead. I feel like I would get a lot more use out of these if they had been one of the other colors, but the ivory is quite lovely too. The packaging is also beautiful, in a white gift box made of quality hard cardboard, embossed with the brand name. Perfect for gift giving too!

These gloves fit beautifully, and are made very well, they also have a good amount of stretch, but because of the sewing, don’t get all stretched out, and they won’t tear when stretching over your hand. I have small hands, and they fit me nicely, but still have plenty of stretch for someone who might have longer fingers. These would be lovely for a bride to wear to her wedding, or a burlesque performer adding it to her routine. It could be worn to a party or a night out on the town, or paired with your favorite white lingerie set. Or wear as outerwear during the day with a denim or motorcycle jacket and rock it like the 80s. These are versatile and beautiful, sturdy yet delicate. Check out the new Angelique Gloves at Cornelia James.

Review: Scantilly Intoxicate and Lavish

August 26th, 2017 @ Amber

Scantilly is one of my favorite lingerie brands. Not only are they fairly priced, but their size range is great and continues to grow. They’re one of the only full bust brands that fits my breast shape and breast tissue well. Their designs are one of the sexiest fullbust brands on the market, with ouvert panties, and faux leather quarter cup bras. The brand is just so hot, and makes me feel like a queen. So not only is the fit fantastic, but the designs are really fun and unlike anything else you see on the full bust market right now. I wish other full bust brands would take a note from Scantilly’s book, and create most sultry and sensual pieces, rather than bright florals and boring solid colors. I just added two new sets from Scantilly, a few from their new fall collection, the Scantilly Intoxicate, and the Lavish set from Spring/Summer. Both are so perfect.

Intoxicate, features an unpadded bra, with paneled cups made of black mesh, with black lace edging up the sides of the bra cups and up the neckline, to be tie at the neck. So I love the un-tie option, if you’re enjoying this set with a partner. There is a small lace detail on the back as well. The bra offers great lift support and shape, without padding. I find that their panties run true to size, and their bras are true to size but I find that the bands are generous, so sizing down in the band can be a good idea. The matching bottom features a high waist mesh panty, with lace at the hips. It’s such a pretty and sexy set!

Lavish is from the SS17 collection, and I had overlooked it foolishly and now I’m so glad I got it. It has a cup similar to their Unleash style (another set that I loved) with half cups, and faux leather cups with soft padding. The bra gives mega cleavage, lift and support and is comfortable. The bra is available with a matching suspender and panty. The bottom band of the bra features a deco inspired design, with a lace-look overlay that gives it a vintage inspired look. The deco lace also makes up the panty and the suspender belt. When worn as a complete set it’s even sexier, and lends an interesting retro vibe, which we don’t get much of in fullbust sizing. Scantilly, sub-brand of Curvy Kate has really hit it out of the park with these sets. They’re so fashionable, sleek, and so damn sexy. They make me feel sexy just wearing them, and really thats often the point of lingerie for me. Pieces that make me feel beautiful and accentuate and work with my body. Get your hands (and boobs) on these sets from now at Figleaves, Bra Stop or Curvy Kate.

Scantilly Voodoo Bra and Ouvert Panties Review for Large Cup Lingerie

July 29th, 2017 @ Amber

One of the sexiest lingerie sets for full bust women of the year is from Scantilly, of course. Large Cup Lingerie was kind enough to offer me this set up for review after I had been swooning over it. The Scantilly Voodoo will put you under it’s spell. The Scantilly Voodoo Bra and matching Scantilly Voodoo Ouvert Crotchless Brief is magical. In all of it’s strappy gorgeousness. It’s a bondage-esque inspired set with black mesh and black satin. Unlined cups, but with a soft cup overlay, givingĀ  layered look, with a double strappy detail at the neckline, and silver toned studs around the keyhole detail at the top of each cup. Sexy! The bra fits true to size, the bands tend to run a bit generous, so size down for a firmer band. The cups that overlay the underwired cups are slightly darted, so it has a hard time staying flat on my bust and ofter looks like a little nip or pokey tip of the softer cup, but you can smooth it out with your fingers or try to move more breast tissue into the cup if it bothers you. The straps are adjustable, and so are the smaller straps that embellish the front of the neckline. The briefs are available as a strappy high waist design, or a crotchless ouvert design with straps over the butt in the back. I’m obsessed with all things ouvert, so of course I went with the ouvert style. Scantilly only offers S-XL knicker sizing, unlike the sister brand Curvy Kate which offers an XS bottom. I’d love it if Scantilly offered XS and perhaps larger sizing as well, as I usually wear a XS bottom and so the Smalls run a bit large on me. I tend to be busty but petite elsewhere, so would love to see the brand grow a bit in the sizing areas for some of us gals who are busty but small everywhere else.

The bra fits well, it offers some cleavage with straps that go over the tops of the breasts. It’s really a sexy set. This bra is so fierce! It’s hard to wear this bra and not feel like a total badass. The matching ouvert bottom is so sexy, with black crisscross straps along the back of the open butt, an open gusset, and then a small metal toned Scantilly disc at the waistband. These ouvert bottoms are super scandalous, and leave a lot to be seen. Which I love! This set is a winner for me. Great lift and support and shaping from Scantilly as usual, super sexy and trendy design, some of the best in the full bust bras market, and matching ouvert knickers. You can find the Scantilly Voodoo set at Large Cup Lingerie, which offers FREE worldwide shipping and awesome prices!

Review of the Avocado Lingerie Mirabelle

July 29th, 2017 @ Amber

I love how pretty and stylish Polish bra brand Avocado is. There has been a surge in popularity of polish bra brands, and while some of them have great fit and a nice size range, I feel like I’m still looking for another type of aesthetic. Avocado Lingerie has that aesthetic. Gorgeous delicate designs, sexy silhouettes, unique and interesting designs, available in a great fit and also available in full bust sizing. Avocado is the sexy polish bra brand in my book. They were kind enough to send me their Mirabelle set, which actually reminds me of a AP style of design. It’s the kind of design I might be interested in but rarely comes in my size. This cute set, which the sheer panels, delicate embroidery and little pop of bright pink color is so fun and pretty and sexy at the same time. Avocado fits very well, with a firm band and offers great lift and support.

I like the way that their styles lift the bust and center it, while also providing nice cleavage. I really like the eyelet trim detailing, the little bright pink embroidered dots, and floral motif embroidery print over the sheer cups. The cups are paneled for added support of the bust. The band is firm, but I like it because it makes my bust feel lifted and supported and doesn’t make my shoulders feel sore from straps digging in. I definitely recommend this brand to those who love Polish bra brands but really want sexy and unique sets, or for those who are new to the Polish bra game and would like to start with a brand that offers great quality and fit. Check out some of my other favorite designs from Avocado below:

The Womanizer 2Go and Plus Vibe Review

July 26th, 2017 @ Amber

The Womanizer brand of toys is a front runner in the game right now, with their air pressure style toys that are intensely orgasmic but gentle on the body. Their two new designs, the Womanizer 2Go, is a smaller version that is a bit more discreet for on the go. It looks like an oversized lipstick tube, with a lipstick shaped silicone tip. The toy is super easy to use, totally cute, and keeps with the air pressure stimulation the original offers. While the toy isn’t super small (but I wouldn’t expect it to be, or else it might lace power), it’s smaller than the other versions of the Womanizer line of toys. The silicone is a fuchsia pink color, with goldtone ABS plastic and black silicone tube, and yes it comes with a lipstick tube cap. So damn cute. It’s very similar to the original, but with one simple button, and it’s easily rechargeable. The smaller design is easy to hold in one hand, and while it boasts a lot of stimulation, it doesn’t feel quite as strong as it’s former designs. But as for the unique stimulation that it does offer, I don’t mind it in a pinch, and in travel situations where the larger models might not be ideal.

The new Womanizer +Size is the largest model of the Womanizer line of products, with a larger head, and longer body and handle. The design is made for larger bodies, for for those who want comfort of a larger hand, or for those who have physical disabilities. I really like the sleek design and colors. Black silicone, with goldtone detailing, two buttons +/- and a white handle. The toy is easy to use with the press of a a finger, and unlike the other models, it’s much easier to press the control buttons while in use, because they’re on the longer handle. The air pressure stimulation is similar, though, I still feel like they may be a bit buzzy when compared to the original model and the current Pro40. This is ideal if you aren’t comfortable with the smaller models though, and this model would come in handy if you’ve had trouble using any of the former models. It’s also very pretty, not super clunky, but is easy and comfortable to hold.

You can find the new Womanizer 2Go or the Womanizer + at the Womanizer Shop

Sugar Candy Bra Review: Everyday Fuller Bust Wireless Seamless Full Bust Bra

July 26th, 2017 @ Amber

Cake Lingerie, best known for their stylish and functional maternity and nursing bras, just released their new fuller bust bra design that is seamless, wireless, and supportive. They are marketing the bra to all and have created Sugar Candy as a sub-brand of the regular Cake company. So far there is one bra style, it’s a wire-free bra, with hook and eye closure, and a lot of lift and support without any padding or underwires. I didn’t think it was possible for a wireless bra to be so supportive of my boobs, but it’s happened! The Sugar Candy Bra brand was kind enough to send me their black Everyday Seamless Bra, which features knit cup construction, XS-XXL sizing, and is made from a soft yarn type of material. Not the type of knitting yarn you’ may think of, this is a stretchy and supportive knit that almost feels like a leotard. The cool thing about this bra is that it’s specifically made for fuller bust women, but it offers small bands too, as well as larger bands, so it will fit full busts *and* plus sized women. No bra sizing here, just a handy dandy size chart that tells you which size you should order based on your band size and your cup size. I ended up going it a size Small, which wouldn’t fit in any other type of bralette or bra sizing system, but since these are made for a fuller cup, the size Small was a great fit offering my a tight band and a larger cup that conformed and fit my breast shape while also lifting it and offering me mad crazy support. This bra rocks! I could even work out in this bra. I’m so excited about Sugar Candy and I really hope they continue to take bras in this size range, and offer more styles and colors in the future. This bra is really comfortable, and the V neckline offers an added oomph of cleavage making this bra anything but boring. I need to buy a few more of these because thats how awesome this bra is. I was worried that it would squish my softer breast tissue too much and give it an unsightly shape, but I actually really like the shape that it gave me, I actually felt more happy with my au natural shape when I wore this. Under the cups there is reinforced material and it really scoops up the breast tissue to bring it up and to the front.

I very rarely get to wear wireless designs, because my boobs are heavy and they aren’t super perky either, so I like them really lifted and supported. Bralettes or wireless bras aren’t usually synonymous with support, and thats okay, they’re usually for comfort. But I was thrilled to be able to find that a wirefree style actually worked for my size, my breast type and was basically everything I had been looking for in a wirefree design. I am super sweet on Sugar Candy Bra. If you want to check them out and order one, it’s available in classic black or a beige color. Available at Sugar Candy Bra.
