Review: Mimi Holliday Bisou Bisou Sherbet

October 10th, 2017 @ Amber

I’ve been a fan of the lovely Mimi Holliday brand for awhile now. A subbrand of the Damaris brand, this girly and sweet brand offers pretty designs and a few of them are available in fuller bust sizes. From the newest collection they offered their Bisou Bisou set in Sherbet, which was available in a G cup. I tend to wear a 32FF/G depending on the brand fit, and with Mimi Holliday I fit best in a size G. I love how this bra comes in a sweet soft pastel colors, of peach and yellow, it’s very candy floss inspired. Best of all, it features a pretty eyelash lace on the cups, without added padding or without a layer underneath the lace. I wish more fuller busts designs offered just bare lace cups, so I was really liking this design. The matching panties feature the same eyelash lace with a bow at the center waistband and a corset style lace up back on the booty. Very fun and flirty. The bra is a maxi bra, with 3 panels on the cups to offer added support. I tend to have heavier breast tissue, but I still found that it offered a naturally lifted shape. The panties are true to size. The fit was nice and the corset style on the back offers a cute peek of an ouvert style.

Super cute! Even the packaging is beautiful. A white gift bag tied up with a ribbon. The material feels soft and pretty against the skin, and the straps feature a little ribbon bow at the bottom of each strap. It offers a bit of support and some cleavage on me, probably would have had more if I had a more dense breast tissue. I really hope that Mimi Holliday continues to add some styles in fuller bust sizes, because I really like the cute designs and the lovely lace and colorways they offer. Highly recommended for those who are fullerbusted and looking for a more feminine and pretty design with unlined lace cups that we don’t always get in the fullbust market.

Sacha Kimmes Eden Collection

October 7th, 2017 @ Amber

Indie lingerie designer Sacha Kimmes has just released her newest collection entitled Eden, which features a black and white colorway. Floral semi-sheer white lace with black edging and ribbons, the collection features an open cup bralette, bodysuit, skirted brief, knickers and ouvert panty and crop top. Sacha is a fantastic designer, I’m a big fan of her work, her excellent stitching and attention to detail and the fact that her collections are limited edition and usually made to order. She also offers a wide size range, and if she doesn’t carry your size, she can do a custom made to measurement piece if you contact her. Sacha is friendly, artistic, and always inspiring. The new Eden collection merges minimalist lines and gives it a cute upgrade with feminine floral lace and contrast black edging. Shop the collection now and check out some of the photos from the lookbook below.

Maude Nibelungen Grey Area Collection

October 6th, 2017 @ Amber

The new collection from Maude Nibelungen is so beautiful. Her knit pieces are unlike anything else on the market. The new collection is called Grey Area, and the lookbook is so pretty and stylistic, with our very own fellow lingerie blogger Comics Girls Need Bras as the model! The minimalist design is very modern and is made of knit fibers that look both soft and sensuous, lightweight and comfortable. Maude artistic voice shines through in this collection, which merges black yarn that is artfully knit to create both exquisite texture and design. I also like that these pieces work well with women of any size. I was so curious how Maude’s work would work with a fuller bust, so I was thrilled to see in this lookbook. I like that the collection can be layered together or worn alone or with other pieces in your collection. The work can be layered and worn as outerwear fashion as well as boudoir wear. Check out some of the photos below and then check out the collection to add some of these unique handmade items to your collection.

Indie lingerie brand Dottie’s Delights has just released their newest collection entitled “Cascade”. The collection consists of beautiful bralettes, bras, suspender belts, tap pants and more. The designs themselves are made of gorgeous silk and lace, creating truly lovely silhouettes. The inspiration comes from the 1970s style cut and colors along with 1930’s style deco. Blog Transition

October 1st, 2017 @ Amber

Hi! So I’ve been thinking of transitioning my blog and turning it into something else for awhile now (almost a year now). I just don’t feel like the mundane feeling of the blog fits me. I will be focusing more on things that inspire me, including lingerie, but not limited to. I am also going to be a lot more open on my blog, without the rules one comes to know within the online blogging communities. I blogged back in 1997, back when we all coded our websites using HTML editors, and linked sister sites, and used banners and guestbooks. My blogging self was much more authentic then, and I feel like the last several years of first blogging about adult toys, and then blogging about lingerie, have not quite fit me completely. So while I’ll still be sharing lingerie on the blog expect a more varied content, and eventually a blog name change. Scarlet’s Letter hasĀ  outlived the usefulness as a name, and I’m ready to create the type of content that I actually enjoy, instead of writing things that feel lacking in hunger, passion and substance. In my personal life, which I’ve always shared very very little of here, my life is very rich in art and creation, and I had thought a blog would be another part of that, when really, I’m realizing it only hindered my work.

I still have a few more lingerie reviews to post, and I’ll be sure to share new brands and lingerie that catch my eye, but just a heads up if you find that my usernames change on social media etc, it’s simply that I’m going in a new direction, one that is more me.

Gabi Fresh x Playful Promises New Plus-Size Collection

September 20th, 2017 @ Amber

Playful Promises has been on top of their game for the past few years and they just keep getting better and better. Their new plus-sized collection is a collaboration with Gabi Fresh, blogger and body positive activist, is so damn sexy and fun. All of the pieces are modern and beautiful, and can be mixed and matched to create whatever vibe you’re going for. The collection just launched and includes three lingerie sets, along with a gorgeous sheer robe and pretty satin PJs. I love how this collection is unlike any other plus sized options out there right now, and it still stays true to the Playful Promises aesthetic while adding definitely Gabi inspired Fresh-ness. Available in sizes US 12-24, and bra cup sizes B-G and band sizes 36-44. Playful Promises is one of the only brands that has consistently listened to it’s customers and has expanded their sizes not only to include full bust sizes but also their plus-sized Curve range. PP is doing amazing things for the industry. Indie brands need the support of folks to keep making these sizes, so please support the brand by making a purchase at full price. Sneak Peek of Upcoming Sub-Brand from Tutti Rouge

September 13th, 2017 @ Amber

Photo: Tutti Rouge

Full bust brand Tutti Rouge recently released their new young and affordable line Rougette, but a video was just posted on the Tutti Rouge Instagram page showing a sneak peek of another upcoming sub-brand that looks sexier and more sultry than their other lines. They mention the brand being called Brand X, and I’m super excited to see what the designs will be and when this will be released! The photo is a little teaser and gives a good idea of what the line will be like, looks a bit sexier, like a grown up version of TR’s usual line. Similar to Curvy Kate’s sexier Scantilly line, I’m looking forward to see what Tutti Rouge does with the upcoming Brand X! What are your thoughts? Check the little video out on Tutti Rouge on Instagram!

Cornelia James Angelique Gloves

August 26th, 2017 @ Amber

The only gloves I wear are from Cornelia James, the classic glove maker from London, who also is the glove maker for the Royal family in the UK. The brand was created by Cornelia, when she had little more than her sewing skills with her in London and not much money, and she created a true business out of it, and her daughter Genevieve has carried the brand on during the years. Celebs and royalty and lovers of fine things alike, wear these luxury gloves. I have a few pairs and each is so well made, so beautiful and can be great for outerwear and even boudoir and evening wear. One of their newest styles the Angelique is a mesh net glove, with a oversized bow at the wrist, they are lovely! These could be worn with lingerie, for burlesque, or even in high fashion. They’re available in ivory, a blush pink and black. I should have gone with blush pink or black but I got ivory instead. I feel like I would get a lot more use out of these if they had been one of the other colors, but the ivory is quite lovely too. The packaging is also beautiful, in a white gift box made of quality hard cardboard, embossed with the brand name. Perfect for gift giving too!

These gloves fit beautifully, and are made very well, they also have a good amount of stretch, but because of the sewing, don’t get all stretched out, and they won’t tear when stretching over your hand. I have small hands, and they fit me nicely, but still have plenty of stretch for someone who might have longer fingers. These would be lovely for a bride to wear to her wedding, or a burlesque performer adding it to her routine. It could be worn to a party or a night out on the town, or paired with your favorite white lingerie set. Or wear as outerwear during the day with a denim or motorcycle jacket and rock it like the 80s. These are versatile and beautiful, sturdy yet delicate. Check out the new Angelique Gloves at Cornelia James.
