Review: Mimi Holliday Tilt a Whirl

April 27th, 2017 @ Amber

I’ve been a fan of Mimi Holliday for awhile now, but I usually considered them a brand for core sizes and not full bust. I had recently seen a few super cute styles from the luxury brand that happened to come in F+ cups and I was so excited to try the brand as a full set. Though I have a few pairs of Mimi Holliday knickers, this would be my first matching set. I was smitten with the sweet minty green and pink of the Mimi Holliday Tilt a Whirl set, made of embroidered cups, eyelash lace, and sweet pink trim with a little bow at the center gore. So pretty! The matching brief features a sheer panel, embroidery at the gusset and lace at the hips as well as matching pink trim and bow. I love when a set is both really pretty and sexy at the same time and Tilt a Whirl definitely seems to fit the bill. I was unsure of sizing, I had read that the brand ran small, or that the brand ran big, so I ended up choosing a great band size but a cup size too small, so the bra fit isn’t perfect on me, but I love the shape and lift so I’m going to keep it and just remember to size up next time! The band is true to sure, but I would definitely say the cups run small. This design maxes out at a G cup, so if this happens, you could size down in the band or even up in the band if you needed extra room in the cup and don’t mind adjusting the back band. The knickers are super cute, they seem to fit true to size if not just a bit snug. I really like the eyelash lace on the cups, the embroidered lace, and the semi-sheer unlined cups. The colorway is lovely, in a sweet candy coated seafoam green and bright pink silk trim.

The straps are adjustable and comfortable. You can see that the bra is snug on me in the cups by at least a cup size, but I still think this bra is so darn cute! It’s really comfortable too, and I like the amount of lift and support it provides while still being dainty with the eyelash lace trim. This paneled cup offers a nice shape and would look even nicer in one size bigger. I had thought of exchanging the size, but honestly I want to wear this immediately and don’t think I could wait to return this back to the UK and await a new size. This set definitely has me interested in trying more Mimi Holliday bras in the future! I can’t wait to try some of their other styles that are available in larger cup sizes. I love that the designs still look fashionable and fun like we see in more core designs, but are available in some fuller bust sizes as well without making me feel like I’m wearing a full bust constructed bra. I’ll be lounging around in this set this for Spring and Summer! You can find the Mimi Holliday Tilt a Whirl collection as well as the Comfort Bra and matching Knicker that I have in this post at Mimi Holliday.

Empreinte Pompadour for SS17

April 27th, 2017 @ Amber

Fairy cotton candy sugar floss princess. That is the best way for me to describe this absolutely sweet set from luxury French brand Empreinte. For the new SS17 season, the brand has released their popular Pompadour set in a lovely sugar plum purple color, and it’s so pretty. It reminds me of a fairytale candy castle with bows, deliciously beautiful embroidery, various shades of purple and delicate lace. Gorgeous! I have the Pompadour in the soft pink color, but this light purple colorway is so pretty and perfect for Spring/Summer so I am totally gushing over this set right now. I had been getting really bored with “pretty” lingerie lately and have been craving sexier stuff, but this set, while truly beautiful, has a romantic sex appeal too. I love the feeling of being covered in intricate embroidery and lace, and this set fulfills that and so much more.

Look at that detail! Isn’t it just beyond? I am loving this set in this colorway. Unlined cups that lift and support, without too much projections. Empreinte always seems to fit like a minimizer on me and doesn’t give me a very round shape, but more of a natural shape that conforms to my breasts. The band is firm but not uncomfortable, the brand uses a firmer band to offer an ideal lift and support and allowing for a great fit and delicate silhouette. So damn sweet. I love the fluffy bow at the center gore, and the cups fit true to Empreinte sizing, which to me seems wider but deeper in the cup and is probably ideal for full on the bottom breasts, but works fine with my full on top bust. The matching brief completes the sweet set with gorgeous embroidery that is like a mini work of art. I find that their knickers fit true to size if not a bit generous. Empreinte has so many beautiful sets this season and this one is the cherry on the fluffy sweet slice of cake! You can find the new purple Empreinte Pompadour Myosotis colorway at Glamuse.

Xenses Luxury Lingerie Boutique and Loveday London Candle and Lingerie Review

April 27th, 2017 @ Amber

I’ve been having a torrid love affair with the luxury brand Loveday London. Why torrid? Because I love the brand, but they don’t make bras in my size, or any size really, they go by a S-M-L sizing system so it’s not possible for me to have a matching set. I love matchy matchy sets of lingerie, so while I really like their stuff, the knickers sit lonely without a matching companion to complete it. I was also really interested in their in-house branded candles, which are really pretty and come packaged in a lovely ribbon pull box that is nice quality and can be re-used for storage or as a trinket box. The candle itself is made of vegetable wax and comes in a quality red glass tumbler with a gold and black boudoir style logo sticker on the front. The candle comes in a variety of scents all with names like Seduction, which smells of rich and heady jasmine petals. It’s sexy and alluring without being perfumey. So pretty! Xenses Luxury Lingerie Boutique is one of the only shops online where you can find Loveday London’s candles, and I was excited to finally be able to try one. Xenses is based in the Netherlands but they offer fast, prompt and secure shipping to the US and my package arrived packed nicely. Xenses is a beautiful luxury lingerie boutique that ships worldwide, and offers luxe brands such as Amoralle, Fraulien Kink and more. They also carry pleasure objects and adult toys from luxury brands like Crave and Shiri Zinn. You can fulfill all of your bedroom and boudoir needs with Xenses. I was also really impressed with their selection of Loveday London lingerie, they carry a variety of their styles including last season’s styles at reduced prices.

They had the Leandra brief, which I had been so curious about in a previous season from Loveday London. The collection isn’t available anymore, but was made of red lace, mesh and leather. The sizing is different than other briefs I’ve tried from the brand, which had the sizing slider at the hips. So I would say that these run on the small side. I usually wear a XS/S bottoms, but these are a Medium that fit more like a snug small. They are so gorgeous though! That beautiful red leather is soft and supple, the red lace is so pretty, and the red mesh offers a sheer peek.

The gusset of the panties are very small and thin, even thinner than the photos show, but I feel like this brand definitely caters to small sized women, so keep that in mind when shopping your size. I would say the brand definitely runs small/petite. They are beautiful truly, truly a gorgeous piece of lingerie. That red leather is entrancing, the red lace so sensual, and the red mesh soft and curve hugging.

I really like the lace detail on the back of the panty too. The little window of lace is so succulent! You can shop the entire range of lingerie and candles and adult toys at Xenses. They really offer a wonderful luxury shopping experience and carry excellent brands that are luxurious, sensual and delicious.

Zoologist Perfume: Niche Artisan Fragrances

April 27th, 2017 @ Amber

I’ve been really interested in artisan perfumes for awhile now, and Zoologist has been on my “to try” list for the past few months. I recently got to try the entire range of artisan niche perfumes from this brand that is taking over the indie perfume market by storm. Zoologist Perfumes create scents based on various animals, including Civet, Nightingale, Hummingbird, Beaver and more. Sounds, interesting right? They aren’t meant to smell like the animal itself, but to capture the feel of the animal. It’s surroundings, it’s vibe, it’s natural habitat. The brand has been nominated as a finalist two years in a row for the Art and Olfaction Awards. Their Civet fragrance is among the most popular and I was most curious to try this scent but was interested in the others as well. Each scent is crafted from a perfume artisan who uses the animal as inspiration. These oil based perfumes are strong, they are totally original and unlike anything I’ve smelled in the perfume industry. These are not perfumes you will find next to the sweet smelling favorites of celebrity designer brands. These are odd. And I mean that in a good way. These slightly whimsical scents create and fragrance experience that does include some animal notes, but they are synthetic and no animal products were used in these products. These have to be made with very high quality oils because they all smell so deep and rich. The sleek black and gold packaging comes with a photo of the animal behind the scent. If you’re unsure about choosing a full bottle, they also have travel size as well as sample sizes including a sample set so you can try the entire line before choosing to buy a full-sized bottle. Civet was immediately my favorite. It’s meaty, it’s lusty, it’s primal, it’s everything you would expect a perfume based on a musky mammal. This perfume smells like a mating call for the senses. Apply this and you’ll get laid if you choose to. Thats the kind of vibe this fragrance has. It’s deep and heady, musky and animalistic, it’s sexual and heated. It quickens the pulse, it arouses the senses and undulates over and over, the smell is so real and electric like sex, when you wear this it’s like you simply need to touch yourself or have your lover touch you. Something about this scent is like bees to honey, this fragrance enthralls the senses and will probably leave people wondering when you walk by wearing this. “What is she wearing?”. This is definitely a fragrance that I would wear in the bedroom, on a date, on a sexy night out. If you’re into niche indie perfumes, you should definitely try these exotic and erotic scents.

Jules + Gem Hawaiian Candles

April 27th, 2017 @ Amber

Gem and Jules Hawaii is an awesome island inspired soy candle line featuring a variety of juicy island fruit scents. I’ve been daydreaming about surf trips of Oahu and have been watching to Moana way too much lately, so these candles really appealed to me. Handmade candles made of soy wax and featuring a natural wood wick candle that crackles as it burns. Candles are available in frosted glass tumblers or travel tins in brush gold. The logo design is very sleek and modern and fresh, stylishly minimalist with a luxury feel. Fragrances include fruits like passion fruit, guava and more. I got to try the Passionfruit and Mint and Guava Nectar. Guava Nectar is very sweet and has a great throw, it smells of juicy guava and sweet honeyed nectar. A great scent for Summer! My favorite is the Passion Fruit and Mint, I was so curious how the mint would work with passion fruit (which is a fruit scent that I really like) and it works so well! You get the bright juiciness of the fruit with just a hint of the mint, which gives it a little extra oomph and creates a refreshingly sweet and relaxing scent. You can shop the entire collection of handpoured soy candles at Gem and Jules Candles on Etsy.

Sawdust and Embers Candles

April 27th, 2017 @ Amber

I’m really loving the wood scented candles from Ember and Sawdust candles. The brand creates beautiful glass tumbler candles, travel tins and tealights in a variety of beautiful fragrances that are wood-themed in nature and smell really great. Even the packaging includes soft fine wooden stuffing to keep your candles safely in the box as they are shipped to you. The candles are made of coconut wax and are free of dyes and additives, just wax and oils to create a beautiful fragrance and a clean burning coated wick. Fragrances include Worn Leather (which has woody notes), Muir Woods, Dark Woods and more. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but Muir Woods and Dark Woods are among my favorites. The woody notes can range from musky and smoky to slightly fruity and minty. So unique. These would make a great gift for the candle lover in your life, or anyone you know that works with wood and is a fan of woody notes. The logo looks like bark and tree rings and is pretty and clean and sleek while modern and minimalist, without being boring. I tried all of the scents in tealights, which were a sampling of all of their fragrances. I found myself being drawn to scents that I probably normally would have skipped over. For example, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about the minty notes in the Homestead scent, but I really liked it. It smelled clean and minty without being overwhelming. Muir Woods is based on the beauty of the redwoods in the California park of the same name. It reminded me of the beautiful SF area. Worn Leather was really great and isn’t just a basic leather note like most leathery candles can be, and it had a masculine smell but without being too overpowering, making it ideal for any gender. Dark Woods was one of my favorites, with notes of birch, ginger and rum, it’s slightly spicy with a hint of sweet wood. These are awesome for the nature lover and those who love the scent of woody notes. You can shop the entire collection at Ember and Sawdust Apothecary.
